The Rev. Maurice Hamilton Vaughan, born in Elizabeth City, N.C. March 17, 1836, was the youngest son of Thomas Green Vaughan and Claudia Hamilton Ellegood. He served Christ Church there as rector in 1859-60 and 1870-73. His first wife, Camilla Helen Cook, died May 21, 1863, shortly after the birth of their daughter, Camilla Cook Vaughan. He later married Sarah Angelina Hamme, who bore him eight additional children Married By the Rev. Joseph Murphy May 13th, 1862, M.H. Vaughan & Camilla H.
