     Know al men by these presents that I JAMES MERRELL of the city of Philadelphia do 
hereby constitute and appoint CHARLES R. KINNEY of Eliz. City and State of North 
Carolina my true and lawful attorney for me and in my sicone? to make sale of all the lands 
tenements & land interests—mentioned and decarled? in a certain deed-in trust from 
MARIANSEE WILLIAMS—THOMAS BEDEDE—CHESTIAN BIDDLE & HENRY I. 
WILLIAMS to SAMSON IVEY & JOSEPH REED-dated the 11th of April 1816 and 
registered in the Register Office of Pasquotank County-North Carolina and I do hereby 
authrise Mr. C.R. KINNEY to make conveyance of the land in fee simple to the 
pusIsares?? a pualsurns?? in my name and do hereby ratify & confirm all his acts in 
process of my new Power of Attorney-In Witness whereof I have hereto set my hand & seal 
this 6th day of September 1833
