     This Indenture made this 3rd day of February AD 1834 between JOHN HINDS 
and SARAH HINDS his wife of the County of Pasquotank and State of North 
Carolina of the one part and MILES WHITE of the County and State afsd of the other
 part-Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of One thousand dollars to 
them the sd JOHN HINDS and SARAH his wife in hand paid is received to be paid 
by the sd JOHN & SARAH his wife the receipt whereof is duly acknowledged and 
Accounts therewith fully satisfied contented and paid have bargained sold, conveyed 
and confirmed & by these presents do bargain sell essay and confirm unto him the 
sd MILES WHITE his heirs and assigns forever one certain piece or parcel of land 
with all the improvements thereon adjoining the town of Elizabeth City & butted and 
bounded as follows 
Beginning at THEMOTESCESUS? WILEYS(?) line and binding on WILEYS line to the 
river there Osceding? on the river to AMILEZER(?) KNOX’S  line thence on his line to 
the town line to then on the town line to MILES WHITES line thence binding on sd 
WHITES lots ABIGAIL HARRIS, WILLIAM CRAWFORDS, SAMSON 
HINDS SELVESTER WILLIAMS & theretoin to the first station containing by estimation 
fourteen acres be the same more or less. To have and to hold the afsd granted & 
bargained premises and improvements except the dwelling house occupied by JOHN
FORBES and the burying ground cemetery and with a frocecy? for carriages to Back 
Street where laid off unto him the sd MILES WHITE his heirs Exrs Adm assigns forever 
and they the sd JOHN HINDS and SARAH his wife hereby cerenout? fis? tedesus? and 
each of their heirs & assigns that they will and their heirs Ext & assigns shall forever 
warrant recuse and defend the right title and peaceable premise of the sd primices
{subject to the ???? afsd} free from the claim and demand of all forever indentures And 
the sd JNO HIND & SARAH his wife doth forever and euycyc? with sd selects? Recvd 
that they will remove from the bards? afsd  the hour recvd as afsd as herein request by 
sd White I Iv? Wetses? Sake of Aeyan? Rd John Hinds & Sarah his wife freely hereunto 
set they hands & seal the day and date above written

    The forgoing deed from JOHN HINDS and wife SARAH to MILES WHITE was exhibited 
in open court and acknowledged said true EDWD. BLOUNT Esq one of the Court presiding 
recd appointed to take the presate? examination of SARAH HINDS wife of sd JOHN –who 
reported that upon her examination she acknowledges
