Myron Vance Midgett Sr ~ 2007

Myron Vance Midgett Sr., 91, of 1095 Horseshoe Road, Elizabeth City, N.C.,
died Wednesday evening at Winslow's Memorial Home.
He was born in Dare County, N.C., to the late Graves Midgett Sr. and
Palmyra Payne Midgett and was the husband of Beulah Helen O'Neal Midgett.
Mr. Midgett was a retired Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Coast Guard,
having served our country for 20 years. Later in life, Mr. Midgett worked
and retired as a mechanic for the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member
of Grace United Methodist Church and the Chief Petty Officers Association.
Besides his wife, Mr. Midgett is survived by four daughters, Freida Styron
of Chesapeake, Va., Janet Vallee of Virginia Beach, Va., Anna DeHart of
Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Helen Carol Shannon of Elizabeth City, N.C.; and
a daughter-in-law, Betty Midgett of Elizabeth City, N.C.; one sister, Mae
Fulcher of Salvo, N.C.; one brother, Melvin Midgett, of Wilmington, N.C.;
nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Myron Vance Midgett Jr., two
grandchildren, four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, at 2 p.m. in the
Twiford Memorial Chapel, Church Street, by the Rev. William C. Holmes.
Burial with military honors followed in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family received friends and relatives at the funeral home Friday from
7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. and at other times at their residence, 1095
Horseshoe Road, Elizabeth City. Twiford Funeral Home, 405 E. Church St.,
Elizabeth City, is assisting the Midgett Family.
