Rufus Harris, 72, of 717 Greenleaf St., Elizabeth City, N.C., died Saturday, 
Sept. 1, 2007, at the Brian Center, Hertford, N.C. 
A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, at St. 
Stephen's Baptist Church. 
Burial will follow at New Sawyer's Creek Church Cemetery. 
A viewing will be held from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. 
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.Rivers Community 
Funeral Home is serving the family. 
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Barbara Harris, of the 
home; six daughters, Shelva and the Rev. Ricky Banks of Elizabeth City, 
N.C., Marilyn McCray of Portsmouth, Va., Rosalyn Shelton (Kennedy) of 
Virginia Beach, Va., Tonia Singleton of Philadelphia, Pa., Sylvia Speight 
of Philadelphia, Pa., and Cecilia McNeil of Philadelphia; five sons, Danny 
and Kim Spence of Baltimore, Md., Dwane and Veronica Harris of Montgomery, 
Ala., Brian and Sharell Harris of Suffolk, Va. and George Harris of 
Elizabeth, N.J., and Matthew McNeil of Philadelphia; 15 grandchildren; and 
two great-grandchildren. 
Rivers Community Funeral Home is expressing sympathy through sincere service.
