In the name of God, Amen, the thirtyth Day of July, 1764 I Elizabeth Burges of the County of Pasquotank widow being some what Indisposed in Body, but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be given unto all mighty God for the same. Therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to Dye, do make and ordain this my Last will and Testament,that is to say, principally, and first of all, I give and Recommend to the Earth, to be buried in Decent, Christian Burial at the Discretion of my Executors; nothing Doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall Recieve the same again by the mighty power of God, and as touching such worldly Estate where with it hath pleased God to bless me in this Life, I give Demise and Dispose of the same in the following manner and form Item first I give to my Daughter Dorothy smithson one Juneper Chest and one Gum box~~~~ Item I give to my daughter Jemimah Cassee one Feather bed with an Ozenbridge tickn and two sheets and one blanket~~~~~~~~ Item I give all my wearing clothes equally to be Divided amongst my four Daughters (vez) Dorothy Jemimah Mary & Miriam Item I give to my Daughter Miriam Forbes one half of my Negro fellow called Sampson and five sheep~~~~~~~~ Item I give the other half of the sd. Negro fellow Named Sampson and one Negro fellow Named Cyrus with all the Cattle Horses hogs sheep household goods and Debts (?) with Every other thing to me belonging or in any wise appear unto my Daughter Mary Forbes~~~~~ and Lastly I Leave Caleb Forbes my Executor to pay all my Justs Debts, and Do hereby utterly Disallow Revoke and Disamis all and Every other former Testament, will Legacies and bequests and Executor by me in any way before named willed and bequathed ratifying of and Confirming of this and no other to be my Last will and Testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written~~~~~~ Signed sealed published and Declared by the Sd. Sign Seal publish pronounce and declare the within writing to be and contain her last will and Testamont and that she was at that time of sound and disposing mind & and memory and that he also Saw James Gardner and Joseph Justis the other Subscribing Witnesses Sign their names thereunto at the same time.
