THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF GEORGE ELLIS January 30, 1720 Copied from NC Archives Probate of Wills No. Carolina In the name of God Amen I GEORGE ELLIS of Pasquotank precinet & province of afsd. being sick & weak of body but blessed be God of sound mind & memory, not knowing how it may please God to dispose of me, do make this my Last Will & Testament in manner & form following revoaking & disallowing all former or other wills by me heretofore made and publish this to be my Last. Imprimis. I surrond my Soul to the mercy of Allmighty God my Saviour and my body to ye eath from whence it was taken to be buriod according to discrotion of my Exts. Hereaftor named, & as for worldly good it pleased God to possess me of here, I give as follows after my Just Debts & funorall expences are paid & discharged. Item. I give unto my Brother THOMAS PALIN(?) one suit of coaths carizs(?) a coat vest & Brichos of drugott, & a shirt of garhih Hollond to be paid him in reasonable time after my docease. Item. I give devise & boqueath unto my Daughter ANN ELLIS all that tract of land I bought of THOMAS PALMOR lying between Little Flatty(?) Creek & Great Flatty(?) Creek known by ye name of Luinigtons(?) to her & her herss and assiinos foredver, provided, the child that my Wife now goes with be a Son, but in case it should be a Daughter then I depose & I give & bequeothe the afsd. tracts of land to be equally devided between them their herss & siiues forever. Item. And all the rest of my Estate of wh. kind or nature soever I desire may be equally divided between my Daughter ANN & my Loving Wife HANNAH ELLIS & the child she now goes with, in case it be born a live, but if not, then to be equally divided between my afsd. Wife and Daughter. Item. I doe here by nominate & appoint my afsd. Wife HANNAH ELLIS and my Brother JOHN PALIN(?) my executor, of this my Last Will & Testament in Wittness whereunto I have here to sett my hand & seal this 30th day of Jan’y. Anno Dom 1720.
