I Thomas Sayer, Senr. of Pasquotank in No. Carolina in Albermarle County make this my last will & testament in manner & form as followeth. First, I give my soul to God that gave it me hopeing to receive a full pardon for all my sins thro. Christ Jesus my Saviour, and my body be buried at ye discretion of my Execu's. hereafter named, and all my just debts to be paid. I give to my son Caleb [the name 'Richard' is marked out] Sayer ye half of this plantation whereat I now dwell, and ye land belonging to ye same to him and his heirs forever, the remaining part of ye afores'd planta'n. with ye house & buildng thereunto belonging, I give to my well beloved wife & timber to improve ye same during her natural life and after her decease to return to my son Caleb Sayer. Item: I give to my son Cale Sayer an negro boy named Moses to him & his heirs and one ewe and my wearing clothes & my working tools. I give to my son [the word 'brother is marked out]-in-law Richard Hastings a Negro man called Will to him & his heirs forever, in consiceration in his care of taking after my son Stephen Sayer. I give to my son Stephen one hundred acres of land joining to Rich'd Hastings and if my son Stephen should dye without issue then ye sd. Land to return to Rich'd Hastings's son Richard & his heirs. Item: I give to my son Thomas Sayer one hundred acres of land lying at North River to him & his heirs forever. Item: I give to my son Richh'd Sayer one hundred acres of land adjoining to him ye sd. Hastings and to him & his heirs forever. Likewise I give to my two daughters Mary and Ann Sayer ye remaining part of my of ye land surveyed by David Wilkins and my half which is 295 acres to them & their heirs forever. I likewise give to my daughter Hanna Sayer 705 acres of land lying in ye same patent to her & her heirs forever. Item: I give to my daughter Dancy McDonell one cow & calf to her & her heirs. My will is that my well beloved wife have & enjoy all the residue of my worldly goods and cattle during her natural life and after her decease to return to my children duly to be divided amongst them. I likewise will my well beloved wife whole & sole executrix of this my last will & testam't. revoking all other wills formerly by me made.
