(Transcribed by Harry Schoettle) Pasquotank County, N.C. Deed Book “D & E” pages 344 & 345 William Wright deed 1765 To all to whom that presents shall come greeting know ye that I Wm. Wright of the county of Pasquotank & province of North Carolina for & in consideration of the sum of one hundred pounds currant money to me in hand paid before the ensealing & delivery hereof well & truly paid by Thomas Torskey of the county & province aforesaid. The receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge & myself therewith fully satisified contented & paid & thereof & every part thereof do exonorate acquit & discharge the said Thos. Torskey his heirs execs admins forever by these presents do fully freely & absolutely give grant bargain sell alien convey & confirm & by these presents have given granted bargained sold aliened conveyed & confirmed unto him the said Thos. Torskey his heirs & assigns forever part of a tract of land granted by patent to Thos. Wright. Relation being thereunto had doth more fully appear situated on the NE side of Pasquotank river beginning at a cypress on Raymonds creek thence S52E12 chains to a red oak thence S70E25 chains to a poplar thence S35W17 chains to a maple thence S23W13 chains to a sweet gum on Burgess swamp thence binding on said swamp S80W5 ½ chains thence N34W9 ½ chains thence N45W9 ½ chains thence W22 ½ chains to an acorn oak thence binding on Raymonds creek various courses to the first station containg one hundred & forty acres of land. To have & to hold the said granted bargained premises with all the assertances priviledges & advantages to the same belonging or in anywise assertaining to him the said Thos. Torskey his heirs & assigns forever to his & their own proper use benefit & behoof forever by the said Thos. Torskey his heirs & assigns shall & may from time to time & at all times forever by force & virtue of these presents lawfully peaceably & equally have hold use occupy possess & enjoy the demised premises with all the assertances free & clear & clearly acquitted exonorated of & from manner of forever & other gifts grants bargains leases mortgages wills entails jointure dowers judgements executions & extents furthermore. I the said Wm. Wright for myself my heirs execs admins do covenant & engage the above demised premises to him the said Thos. Torskey his heirs & assigns against the lawfull claim of any of my heirs & hereafter to warrant & defend the same from me & my heirs. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the 7th day of July 1765. William Wright Signed sealed & delivered in presence of us.
