This company, known as the "Pasquotank Boys" was raised primarily in Pasquotank and Chatham counties and enlisted in April-July, 1862. It was mustered into state service at Camp Magnum, near Raleigh, on July 28. 1862, and assigned to the 56th Regiment NC Troops as Company C. After joining the regiment the company functioned as a part of the regiment, and its history for the remainder of the war is reported as a part of the regimental history.
